Sam Smith: On why he thinks he won 4 Grammys
A really insightful mention about why he felt he won 4 Grammys for his music.
Also a little tidbit from me:
Just be yourself. Create like you want to create.
If you love what you do, it will love you back.
Creativity is a relationship of the best kind but you have to own it.
You can't just hope you'll be creative or be successful.
You must make your own reality as you go and that's by believing in yourself and the work you do and how you treat others along the way. Don't ever apologize for what you love doing or who you love or how you create your own work. It's all connected.
Remember that you are building a foundation right now so make sure it's built on originality, authenticity and passion. Otherwise it will crumble sometime along your journey.
Arrogance and Ego can be doomed quicksand for anyone creative so beware of those pitfalls. Confidence is not the same as Ego. Also remember that we teach others how to treat us. Be careful to own your talent without bravado and without swagger.
You only need to embrace it and others will notice and take you seriously.
A long life of doing what I've loved doing has been so rewarding and totally unexpected at times. Being able to look back at this point now makes me know that the path I choose for myself, without apology, has been one that I wouldn't have missed or done differently.
Find your voice and you will find your path.
Funny how that works.
Remember that whenever you come to that "fork in the road" and you have to choose which direction to go that both paths lead to your better self. There is no wrong path if you listen to your soul, which is afterall, your creative spirit.
